Pre & Post Procedure Instructions

It is essential to follow these strict pre and post-care instructions. AZURA is dedicated to providing the necessary support and guidance to ensure your optimal well-being throughout the skincare process. Your satisfaction and comfort are our priorities, and we are here to address any queries you may have to enhance your overall experience and results.

The following  is recommended prior to a Spot Plasma Treatment:

  • Microneedling - 28 days prior to Plasma Pen procedure.

  • Dermaplane - 1 week prior to treatment will be beneficial to remove vellus hair and dead skin
    cells.
  • Professional Skincare - being used daily. ( Please make sure to inform your therapist prior to your treatment what skincare products are being used. It is advisable to use a professional skincare range for optimal results and to reduce the risk of exposing your skin to potentially harsh chemicals commonly found in some drugstore skincare products. Professional ranges are carefully formulated to meet higher standards, ensuring effectiveness and safety in promoting healthier skin.)

The following is not recommended prior to a Spot Plasma Treatment:

  • Chemical Peel - not to be done within 28 days pre-treatment

  • Avoid sun exposure or artificial tanning 28 days prior (excessive melanin production)

  • Clients should have discontinued Ruaccutane 6-12 months prior to treatment (skin very thin and often dehydrated)

How to Prepare for this Treatment:

  • Should you be using any form of cosmetic toners or facial wipes one must cease with this application for at least 2-3 days before the treatment. This will change the PH of the skin, which can impact the healing process.

  • It is of the interest of the patient to ensure that your skin is in a healthy condition, thus it is suggested that one uses a product which will then enhance the healing process together with the synthesis of collagen and elastin.

  • No make-up to be worn and skin to be clean in the area to be treated

  • For eye treatments no make-up and no false lashes or no eye extensions can be worn.

  • No Alcohol or Caffeine 24 hours prior to treatment.

  • Do not apply products, creams , or ointment containing Alcohol before or after treatment. If you are unsure, it is best to apply nothing at all.

  • It is recommended to take an anti-histamine for 2-3 days following your appointment at the recommended dosage. (especially for eye treatments).

  • After your treatment you will be given thorough written and verbal aftercare instructions to ensure that the best results are achieved in the week following
treatment (or until the treatment area has fully healed):

  • Do Not use an exfoliating wash or cleanser. Only you the Formulage Gel Cleanser.

To ensure optimal results for your Spot Plasma Procedure please adhere to these instructions:

  • Immediately after procedure, you will experience a burning sensation, one can
associate the feeling to a bad sunburn. This will usually continue during the next
24 hours of the procedure, this is normal.
  • Following the procedure, it is usual to have some swelling, a cold compress can
be used but only after the first 8 -10 hours. This is normal especially if the
procedure has been done around the eyes.
  • After the procedure the therapist will apply Colloidal Silver Spray to the treated
area, it is essential that the treated area is NOT wet for about 8-10 hours. (There
must be NO contact to water or saline water during this time). You will need tore-spray the treated area with colloidal silver at least 3-5x per day for the next 5 days.
  • Once scabs have started to loosen, you can use a gentle cleanser (we recommend
Formulage) to gently cleanse the area and apply either Formulage Eye Cream or Formulage Night Cream.
  • Occasionally the treated area may become a little weepy, this is part of the normal healing process, this will settle. However, if the area becomes inflamed
and pus is present please contact your plasma therapist for further advice.
  • It is always thus vitally important to keep the treated area clean and moisturised.
  • DO NOT have sun exposure whatsoever!!!
  • The scabs may become darker, which is a normal healing process.
  • Allow for the brown scabs to fall off on their own usually within 5-7 days.
  • DO NOT TOUCH, SCRATCH, PICK OR RUB THEM AS THIS WILL
    CAUSE SCARRING, HYPER AND/OR HYPO-PIGMENTATION)
DO NOT USE EXFOLIATORS or SKIN TONERS at all.
  • DO NOT use any makeup, foundation or powder until ALL scabs have fallen off.
  • DO NOT cover the scabs with a plaster or band-aids.
  • DO NOT swim, sauna or use hot tubs whilst the scabs are present.
(Formulage) Sun Cream SPF50 is essential, after all scabs have fallen off.
  • Avoid any form of sun exposure for at least 3 months this includes sun beds. ( Excessive
sun UVA can cause Hypo or Hyper-pigmentation.)
  • Raise your head with an extra 2 pillows for 3-5 days to increase lymph flow and improve swelling.
  • Expect some swelling and slight discomfort, especially around the eye area for at least 3-5 days.
  • Additional procedures of the same area can be repeated after a minimum of 12 weeks healing time.
  • Avoid any additional procedures/procedures on the area, such as facials,
microneedling, chemical peels, enzyme peels, etc for the next 4-6 weeks minimum.

Symptoms of Healing and the Healing Process:

The controlled damage inflicted is superficial and there is no bleeding as the skin
is not broken with the needle.
Immediately after the treatment the client may experience the following:

-Heat
-Swelling
-Redness

Some swelling may be experienced the day following the procedure with mild discomfort in the treated area – this may persist for 3 days.  Any residual scabs will resolve in 5 – 7 days (in rare cases it may take as long as 20 days if the client’s skin is compromised.

The area should be treated gently for a few days and the scabs should be left to fall off in their own time as the skin heals.

The use of the prescribed products is essential as the final results
will be determined by the client's compliance to the aftercare protocol.  A check-up visit is recommended after 4 weeks.

All direct sources of heat, i.e. sun, UV radiation, saunas etc to be avoided for at least 2 weeks post treatment.

Application of eye ointment may relieve the symptoms of dry and irritated eyes.  Apply cool /ice packs to swollen eyes for relief.

Mild scabs will be present on the skin where treated.  It is normal for sensitive areas such as the
eyelids to become swollen and some may experience weeping – this is simply plasma and is quite normal.  Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and persist for 2 – 3 days.  The scabs will fall off after 3 – 7 days.

Most clients see a noticeable improvement after the first treatment.  The results are cumulative, and some
individuals may require more than one treatment.  The number of treatments required will vary
according to the client's expectations, the severity of the laxity, the desired degree of correction, the client’s physiological response to the treatment and their ability to heal.  However, it is unusual for more than 2 treatments to be required.

Should additional treatments be required to achieve a better result, a healing period of 8 weeks (minimum) between treatments is advised.
